I noticed that goblin portraits, caricatures and similar works I've been doing lately are all quite rough, with lots of brushstrokes and textures, but often lacking detail. So I did this as a practice piece. I used photos of an old man, a pig snout and a man in a sweater for reference, and tried to combine the relevant elements without slavishly copying any single photo. It took me a few weeks of on and off work. Of course, I could go into even more detail based on same reference pictures, but who knows how much time that would take me or would I ever actually finish it. Hopefully next time I do something I'll remember to take some time for detail work around the focal points of the picture and do a better balance between rough and rendered areas.
